WHY I FISH
It was never just about catching fish.
It’s the curiosity. The challenge. The places it takes me. And the fact that no matter how long I’ve done this, there’s always something left to figure out.
THE CURIOSITY
I've always wanted to know why.
Why is a fish there? Why did it react? Why did it ignore one presentation and eat another?
Catching the fish is rewarding. But for me, figuring out why it happened has always been the part that keeps me coming back.
THE CHALLENGE
Fishing never lets you think you have it completely figured out.
One day everything comes together. The next day, the same water can make you question everything you thought you knew.
Conditions change. Fish move. Patterns disappear.
That constant challenge is what keeps fishing interesting. There is always another problem to solve, another adjustment to make and another opportunity to get better.
THE PLACES
Fishing has taken me places I never imagined I’d go.
From the lakes and rivers I grew up fishing to oceans thousands of miles from home, every new place brings a different puzzle.
Different water. Different species. Different cultures.
But the same desire to understand what’s happening beneath the surface.
Fishing gave me a reason to explore the world — and every place has taught me something I’ve carried to the next one.
THE PEOPLE
Some of the best things fishing has given me have nothing to do with fish.
Boats, docks, camps and shorelines have a way of bringing people together. Some started as guides, competitors or strangers and became lifelong friends.
Fishing creates a common language.
I've been fortunate to learn from incredible anglers, share what I've learned with others, and build relationships I never would have had without a rod in my hand.
THE NEXT CAST
Because I still don’t know what’s going to happen on the next cast.
After all these years, that hasn’t changed.
There’s always another piece of water to understand.
Another species to learn.
Another place to explore.
Another problem to solve.
I’ve spent most of my life fishing, and somehow it still has the ability to surprise me.
That’s why I fish.
