Loomis GLx 873C BJR paired with a Curado MGL150 and 18lb FC Sniper is a beauty combo for covering water with a Chatterbait. To keep my bait closer to the surface I like@using a Mayor 3” or the CleanUp Craw and when the fish are down a little deeper, the Freeloader or 3.75 Jerk or even the Mooch Minnow get the nod. Last minute dice roll on a late May fish in the Detroit River for walleye paid off. No giants but load of good eater size walleye averaging 18-21 inches. The perfect eater in my opinion.
Water was a little dirty near Lake St. Clair, a little cleaner down closer to Lake Erie but both ends produced fish.
The 5” Crush City Jerk in Bombshell in the dirtier water and the 3” Jerk in Rock Melon did the trick. Both rigged on a 3/4 oz Neon Mooneye or 3/4 oz Redline Tungsten Swimbait Jig.
For a combo, I bounced between the IMX Pro 802S SJR for the 5” and the NRX+ Inshore 840 for the 3.75”. Both paired with a 2500 Twin Power spooled up with 8lb Power Pro. A 12Lb FC leader finished it all off.
Fish were in 24-29 FOW and a short snap jig was the ticket.

Been running th new batteries hard and I’ve been impressed. My set up is a 31 AGM for the motor and house, a 12v 180AH for the electronics with is an Xplore 10, Xplore 12, Ethernet Hub and Mega Love 2, a 2 - 36v 60AH in parallel for the Ultrex Quest. 2 days on th St. Lawrence fighting huge winds and current and I was only down to 57% on my Troller and still had 56% left on my electronics supply. That gives me an easy 3 days of not needing to charge and I’m good with that. Today I ran them for 5 hours and barely put a dent in them. Appreciate the opportunity to run these @proguidebatteries for the year!

That’s a wrap for me for 2026, time to focus on Perch and Walleye up here and maybe some NY State bassing!

Mother Nature tried but we succeeded landing close to 50 fish on a Flipping Jig paired with the Crush City Clean Up Craw.
Straight 20lb FC Sniper was spooled up on my Curado 150XG and I had a chance to fish the new Zodias B - 7’5” MH Fast Rod. Light, sensitive and loads of power. Was th perfect choice for my 3/8oz jig. #FishShimano #FishItWell #CrushCity #Sunline #SeeWhatsOutThere

What an incredible day filming for Season 13 of #BreakingBoundaries in Zone 20! We were out there chasing early season smallmouth, and let me tell you, it was a blast despite the gale force winds.

Got to put the new Zodias 7’2” M Solid Tip rod to the test, paired perfectly with the Vanquish 2500S and 5 lb Power Pro. The 12lb Sunline FC leader added that extra finesse we needed for those finicky bites.

On the business end, I was throwing the Crush City Ned BLT, rigged up on a VMC 3/16oz Ned Rig Jig. The action was phenomenal, and we landed some beautiful smallmouth despite everything Mother Nature threw at us.

The @basscatboats Lynx STS is home and loaded up, ready for break in and some fish slime. The new front compartment has made organizing my tackle so easy!!!! With individual sections, I have been able to reduce the amount of boxes and shed some weight. I still have all my heavy lead boxes in the two rear compartments but I’m loving this set up. Can’t wait to see how it works while fishing!!! #basscatboats #fishshimano #crushcity #vmchooks #riversportsrecreation

Lots of rain recently lead to high water, a bit of Color but unfortunately th fish were on the move big time. Figured them out but lost waaaaaaay too many today. 😂 that’s ditch fishing… the 10’ ML @fishgloomis IMX Pro Steelhead did the trick with an old standby G. Loomis float reel. Sunline Fine Float 2 10lb main with an 5lb FC Leader and and size 14 Raven Shrimp hooks were a necessity for me. I just finished 50 days down at the incredible @tropicstarlodge and all because of something we started last year. Last year, @captainblaineanderson and @mrbennyortiz joined me for a week, looking to take on the unknown at the lodge, the Slow Pitch Jigging game and these two taught me so much in those few days. From finding new areas, to learning the prevailing currents to using specialized set ups, it was a total success. Good friends and great fishing. It was th perfect welcome home to the amazing fisheries that are firing up, right here in my own backyard, in Southern Ontario. I feel sorry for the bass, perch, walleye and steelhead as I have come out of the jungle in way better fishing shape than I have been in for a long time when it comes to the end of winter. 😂 Fighting big Grouper and Tuna and other species is the ultimate whole body workout and I’m jacked to roll out on the water in Ontario to continue learning, filming content and doing what I love. Well this just happened! Always thought the Snowy Grouper here at the lodge were 5-10 lbs. Apparently not! This one went 45 lbs and took everything I had. Hooked it on bottom in 550 feet of water and I’m pretty grateful I had the Ocea Jigger Infinity Motive MH paired with the Ocea Jigger 2500LD. Spooled up with 40lb MaxCuatro and a 80lb Sunline Saltimate FC leader. On the business end I was running a 300 gram jig with a set of VMC 7/0 Tandem Assist Hooks. Dream fish for sure! Thanks to @didrik_stavervik for coming out to jig and for taking the pic. #fishshimano #snowygrouper #tropicstarlodge #jigging #fishing

A little grocery shopping today at @tropicstarlodge with Dylan, Candelo and Jesus. Looking for new jigging areas and we found a couple off the beaten track! The Red Big Eye fell for a 120 gram Shimano Sardine Waver with the VMC 5/0 Techset tandem assist hooks, red gold zebra fished on the Ocea Jigger Infinity Motive Medium paired with a Torium Jigging Special 2000 HG spooled with 30Lb Power Pro Depth Hunter. Liking the jigging game more and more. Appreciate all th guidance @mrbennyortiz ! Total catch included 3 Barrelfish, 6 Snowy Grouper and a bunch of smaller reef snapper, grouper and Damsel Bass. #fishshimano #tropicstarlodge #vmchooks #fishitwell #seewhatsoutthere
